Daytime Truancy and Loitering Ordinance
( Click link to read )...
The City of Pomona enacted a Daytime Truancy and Loitering Ordinance that was effective as of March 11, 2002.
Any minor, not accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult caretaker, may be stopped by city
or school police to determine if they are lawfully out of school. Minors who are out of school unlawfully
between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. will be issued a citation to appear in Juvenille Court. For a
first offense, the Juvenille Court may assess a fine of several hundred dollars against the student, not the parent. Failure
to appear in court will result in a branch warrant being issued.
Pomona Unified School District welcomes this ordinance as another tool to insure that all students are in school,
every day, getting an education. We hope you will use this occassion to discuss the importance of daily, on-time
attendance with your child or children.
The Parent Center is located in Room 310 and is open from
